About Stuart
Do you need a sounding board to help you find the way forward with IT?
I have been working in IT since the 1980s and for the English National Health Service (NHS) from 1991 to late 2018. During my career I have acquired a wide range of technical skills.
I continue to develop these along with new skills as needed. I have progressed from computer retail, to the sole IT resource for an organisation of 60 people, to leading a team in a 4000-person organisation.
Since leaving the NHS I have published 2 eBooks on the Amazon Kindle platform - PowerShell and Active Directory and
PowerShell and Windows Event Logs and written commissioned articles on Active Directory and other IT subjects for the
Adam the Automator and Friends web site. My articles can be found at: https://adamtheautomator.com/author/stuart/ .
While employed by the NHS I was part of a small group of senior staff who defined and managed the IT program of my employing organisation.
I managed several key IT infrastructure services covering identity (Active Directory, PKI), cloud (Azure), messaging (Exchange), security and system management (System Center).
I led the Desktop Support Team, that delivered a range of services including Service Desk, IT procurement and device deployment.
I was the organisation's SME for Active Directory; my first installation of the product was a beta of the original release. I created several tools that allowed staff access to information held in Active Directory.
I have good communication skills and am experienced in communicating IT matters, both verbally and in writing, to all levels of understanding and levels of seniority in both internal and external organisations.
I have designed and delivered IT related training to small groups of staff.
I am familiar with several programming and scripting languages including PowerShell, VBScript, VB, JavaScript, Perl, C# and Python.
I have used these skills to automate business and IT processes. I am proficient in creating web applications using HTML and have created Graphical User Interfaces with Windows Presentation Foundation.
My key strengths include my problem-solving ability and the breadth of my IT knowledge with emphasis on the Microsoft ‘stack’.
